British and World Literature - 12th Grade (Period 2)

Course Description

Examining the nuances of specific sub-genres of Language Arts, 11th-12th will include leveled spelling and grammar, research, source citation, reading, writing and speaking academic argument, meta-cognitive thinking, perspective development, and world-view perspective development. Students in 11th-12th grade understand the world around them and how they relate to/contribute to society. Standards are aligned in a reading/discussion format using prompts designed to specifically address standards, followed by a writing/multimedia project. The project addresses presentation standards and acts as an assessment of critical thinking skills, organization, and responsibility. Literature is gathered from two sources (11th: American literature; 12th: British literature), and writing is varied for style and grade level.
